This Indooroopilly project had a number of priorities for architects Guymer Bailey: redesign the existing house to create subdivision potential, open the vista to the riverside views, and create new living and bedroom areas befitting a stylish and discerning taste.

Guymer Bailey produced a clever design to reduce the width of the existing house, extend at the rear and add an additional level. Petro Builders was contracted to deliver the renovation.  The components of the rebuild featured a mix of modern and traditional building materials, which create stylish contemporary interiors, but remain sympathetic to the existing post-war home.

Site supervisor Greg DeWagt and the Petro Builders team were put to the test in a project that included carefully removing a portion of the house down to the footings, installing extensive internal/external portal frames into the existing structure, within a limited time frame. The end result is a fine looking home that has open plan living spaces and takes full advantage of the stunning river views.
